Jerome and Summey was founded in 1934 by P. Jerry Jerome and his sister-in-law, Rowena Summey. As a business man, Mr. Jerome saw the need for a local insurance agency to provide coverage for the many homes being built in Brevard.

In 1959, the growing agency moved to larger quarters in what was then the Brevard Savings and Loan Building at 132 South Caldwell Street. In 1971, the Agency was purchased by Jerry Hart Jerome and Carlene Jerome. For continuity, they retained the Jerome and Summey name. In 1980 the agency moved into a newly-constructed addition at the same address, where it remains today.

In 1997, the insurance agency was purchased by Phillip and Patti Jerome. Today, the agency continues to grow in Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Jerome and Summey is firmly commited to the community, supporting the arts, education and many other local organizations.
